On Thursday 27 November 2025, DAMR had the pleasure of hosting their Annual Conference at the University of Groningen, at the inner-city House of Connections. We had an inspiring day with panels on aging and retirement, migration law, refugee protection, migrant work, governance and belonging. These panels exemplified the highly interdisciplinary landscape of migration studies in the Netherlands, with disciplinary contributions ranging from sociology to law, and philosophy to political science.
We especially valued not only the high quality of research, but also the openness of discussions between disciplines, methods, topics and career stages. The closing panel with Verena Seibel (Utrecht University), Jeroen Doomernik (University of Amsterdam) and Marina Lazëri (Ministry of Asylum and Migration) was another testimony to that, as we discussed the bridges between migration research and policy making.
We are very grateful to all presenters for their engagement and to the University of Groningen for hosting us. We are looking forward to seeing you next year again!
